With over one thousand forty species of birds Tanzania is considered a premier destination not only for safaris but also for stupendous birdwatching. During our program we will spend time birding the varied habitats of Arusha National home to over 400 species of birds including flamingos and fish eagles. During our visit to Tarangire National Park we will have the opportunity to birdwatch an area with one of the densest populations of birds in all of Africa.
Within the 700,000-hectare uninhabited nucleus of the Tambopata Reserve the Tambopata Research Center (TRC) is an ideal setting for clients looking for a true nature experience in one of the last pristine bio-diverse rainforest left in the world. Because of its remote location in a Connecticut-sized tract of uninhabited wilderness, it contains stable populations of endangered wildlife.
Refugio Amazonas Lodge is located in a 200-hectare private reserve within the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve. Natural attractions include an oxbow lake, mammal clay licks, small monkeys, and hundreds of bird species. Refugio Amazonas also features a canopy tower.
